Roy Caplinger is experienced in all facets of both federal and state court litigation, for both the public and private sectors. Mr. Caplinger began his career in a prestigious downtown New York City litigation firm whose clients included several high-profile companies such as AIG. In that role, he was counsel to multiple insurers in connection with several multi-million-dollar and high-profile complex commercial and securities litigations, including the Enron MDL, In Re WorldCom Securities Litigation, In Re Janus Litigation and In Re IPO Securities Litigation – the latter of which was at the time among the largest and most expensive securities litigation in U.S. history.
In 2017, Mr. Caplinger moved his practice to New Jersey where he became a partner and key member of the litigation and insurance defense groups at the law firm of DeCotiis, Fitpatrick, Cole and Giblin, LLP. At DeCotiis, Mr. Caplinger was again involved in complex litigation matters such as In Re: Generic Pharmaceuticals Pricing Antitrust Litigation and a series of complex litigations involving the firm’s client, Hudson Regional Hospital, and its successful acquisition of the Bayonne Medical Center and ultimate successful negotiation of an agreement with CarePoint Health to form a regional healthcare management system.
On the Plaintiff’s side, Mr. Caplinger was one of the lead partners in litigating and ultimately settling a nearly $20 million dollar lawsuit litigated on behalf of Essex County against its insurer Aetna. Mr. Caplinger’s practice also involved representing various New Jersey state entities such as the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, where his expertise in insurance and e-discovery matters played a vital role in litigating and settling several high-profile state matters.
Mr. Caplinger’s years of practice have honed his skills and led him to a common-sense result-oriented approach to litigation, with the goal of maximizing results for his clients.
